Winterizing Your Bicycle & Body

Uptown & Boogie Bicycle will screen four short films depicting riders cycling during the winter months and in cold environments. Afterward, a panel will discuss personal techniques and methods to winterizing a bicycle and how to remain alert and safe on the road.

We will have winter accessories, parts or gear as raffle prizes for event participation!

Ride from Harlem to Brooklyn

Uptown riders are biking to Brooklyn to show love and support to Red Lantern Bicycles, who are closing their doors on Nov 30th.

Red Lantern Bicycles, believe that bicycles are one of human kinds’ greatest inventions and have served the Fort Greene, Brooklyn area for over 7 years.

Come out and enjoy a cup of organic coffee (French press, espresso, our killer cold brew), hot and iced teas, juices, beer and wine. Also, enjoy the panini press sandwiches, small salads and vegan empanadas from Monk's Meats.

Brooklyn riders can meet us at Manhattan Bridge (Jay Street) at 4PM.

Coffeeneurs and Social Bikes Ride

We are participating in The 7th Annual Coffeeneurs Challenge by asking riders to use camping gear to prepare and share hot chocolate, tea, apple cider or coffeeneuring-ish type drinks and pastries before the ride at Lydia's Magic Garden (El Gardin Magico de Lydia).

After, join us for the El Barrio Bikes monthly ride to the TransAlt UMAC Social Ride to Harvest Fest! The 9 mile ride will start at 125th and St. Nicholas and head east to LIC, Queens via Wards Island and RFK Bridge.

We ask all riders requesting a Citibike to arrive at 8:30am or using a personal bicycle to meet at the Citi Bike Station on E 116 St & 2 Ave. The Citibikes are limited to 15 riders on a first come first serve basis.

We are treating the outdoor event as a Zero Waste Bicycle Event, we ask riders to use reusable bottle, cups or mugs, wooden or metal utensils and cloth napkins.

The bike tour will provided locals and visitors the opportunity to take advantage of to the OHNY Weekend via Citi Bike or personal bicycle, to visit important buildings, experience the city and meet the people who design, build, and preserve New York. Also, with the assistance of The Street Vendor Project part of the Urban Justice Center, riders will too enjoy delicious local street vendors cuisine in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

Who Attends the Events:
The event is open to all gender over the age of 18 who’s comfortable with biking street traffic.

We are joining forces with the 100 Gates Project and CitiBike to create a FREE leisurely street art bike tour in East Harlem. We will focus on business store front gates and street art along 3rd Ave and end at Whole Foods (Harlem).

Tour de Bronx

The Bronx Tourism Council is hosting on Sunday, Oct. 22 the Tour de Bronx, the largest free cycling event in New York State!

Participants choose from one of two rides. The 25-mile route takes riders through the south, east and mid portion of the borough including the Mott Haven district, Clason Point along the East River, and the largest park in New York City: Pelham Bay Park boasting nearly 3,000 acres of natural forest. The 40-mile route includes a visit to the historic Fort Schuyler on the Throggs Neck peninsula, the nautical community of City Island and the northern portions of the borough like Woodlawn and Riverdale. Both rides conclude at the iconic New York Botanical Garden where riders receive a complimentary souvenir T-shirt and enjoy a live musical performance as they relax from the day’s festivities.

Join the Bronx River Alliance Greenway Team for a friendly 23-mile ride along the Bronx River Greenway. Ride along New York City's only freshwater river from the estuary of the Bronx River in Soundview, to its source at the Kensico Dam in Westchester County.

The ride will begin at Sounview Park Field House (located near the corner of Lafayette Ave & Colgate Ave) at 9:30AM and will include two rest stops before reaching the Kensico Dam in Westchester County, where we will have lunch at aproximately 1PM.

Female-Run Bike Repair and Maintenance

On Sunday, October 1, from 12-4 p.m., Park Avenue from 125th to 118th streets will be closed to cars and open to walking and wheels. "Party on Park" will provide the community with a safe space to walk, bike and celebrate East Harlem -- with tons of family-friendly fun, community resources, food from local small businesses, an Old School Jam with D.J. Ted Smooth, and more!

Ready to join in? Bring your bicycle, scooter, skateboard or rollerskates if you have 'em. If not, we'll have bikes for you to borrow. RAIN OR SHINE.

Need a bike helmet? Bike safety tips? Make sure to stop by the NYC DOT bike helmet-fitting station to be custom-fitted to receive your helmet! Please note: The line for helmet fitting will be closed at 3:30 p.m. so that all community members may be served.

We are searching female volunteer bike mechanics and experts to get bikes safely back on the road!!
